The third building is the Island

It was mainly for entertaining

后来决定做民宿以后
Later I decided to renovate it into a homestay
bǎ liǎng rén fáng gǎi chéng sì rén fáng
把两人房改成四人房
And the double room was changed into a room for four
yòng mù tóu nuǎn sè xì de lái xiū shì
用木头、暖色系的来修饰
I use wooden and warm-color decorations
lìng wài yī dòng shì zuò měi shù guǎn shǐ yòng
另外一栋是做美术馆使用
The rest one is used as gallery

各种形式的艺术品我都会收藏
I collect art works in various forms

很自以为是的
I was self-righteous

我一直很主观地认为艺术家所得很高
I had believed that artists earned big money

可是有一天我发现这跟我想像中的完全不一样
But one day I found the imagination was totally different than the reality
tōng cháng yì shù jiā guò de rì zi dōu hěn qīng kǔ
通常艺术家过的日子都很清苦
Usually artists live in poverty
wǒ jiù xiǎng shuō wú cháng tí gōng chǎng dì
我就想说无偿提供（场地）
So I want to offer them a place
ràng tā men zuò zhǎn lǎn
让他们做展览
To exhibit their works free of charge
yǐ huà wèi zhǔ diāo sù chuàng zuò yě yǒu
以画为主，雕塑创作也有
The exhibits include mainly paintings, and some sculptures as well

The former landlord
yīn wèi zhǒng yī xiē shuǐ guǒ
因为种一些水果
He grew fruits here
dà liàng dì shǐ yòng nóng yào huà féi gēn chú cǎo jì

He used a large amount of pesticide, chemical fertilizer and herbicide
zhěng kuài tǔ dì tā jiù huāng fèi
整块土地它就荒废
And the whole land lay waste
wǒ huā hěn zhǎng shí jiān
我花很长时间
I spent a long time to restore it
wǒ zhǒng guāng là shù
我种光蜡树
I grew evergreen ash trees
jiù kě yǐ xī yǐn dú jiǎo xiān
就可以吸引独角仙
So that rhinoceros beetles were attracted
xī yǐn bān dié
吸引斑蝶
And Ursula butterfly as well
yǒu yī tiān wǒ fā xiàn shēng tài huí lái le
有一天我发现生态回来了
One day I found the nature returned
yě huā shàng miàn bù mǎn dà liàng de hú dié
野花上面布满大量的蝴蝶
Butterflies danced in flowers
zuì dà hú dié dà gài bǐ wǒ de shǒu zhǎng hái dà
最大蝴蝶大概比我的手掌还大
The biggest butterfly was even larger than my palm
nà yī shā nà wǒ hěn gǎn dòng
那一刹那我很感动
I was touched at that moment
shēng huó zài tái běi
生活在台北
I used to live in Taipei
tǎn bái jiǎng wǒ yǒu zhuàn dào qián
坦白讲我有赚到钱
To be honest, I made some money

可是我不快乐
But I was unhappy

When friends come to visit, they see me sweating and pulling up weeds

对我来讲那是我很开心的事情
But for me that’s a delightful thing to do

当客人来看建筑看设计
When guests come to see the building and the design
lái wǒ yuán qū de dōu néng gòu dé dào zuì dà mǎn yì de shí hòu
来我园区的都能够得到最大满意的时候
If they feel satisfied in my villa
