My name is Gu Ying, and I’m a wildlife photographer

我是从2016年的6月开始第一次进入可可西里拍摄的

I entered the Hoh Xil region to shoot pictures for the first time in June, 2016

dào xiàn zài dì sān nián le

到现在第三年了

It’s been 3 years by now

zhǔ yào shì pāi shè de yǐ cáng líng yáng wèi zhǔ de gè zhǒng yě shēng dòng wù

主要是拍摄的以藏羚羊为主的各种野生动物

I shoot various wildlife, mainly Tibetan antelopes

wǒ men dà duō shù rén kě néng dōu bǐ jiào shú xī nán běi jí

我们大多数人可能都比较熟悉南北极

Most of us are familiar with the south pole and north pole

yǒu yī xiē rén tā shén zhì bù zhī dào wǒ men de dì qiú de dì sān jí shì qīng cáng gāo yuán

有一些人他甚至不知道，我们的地球的第三极是青藏高原

Some even don’t know the third pole of the earth, which is the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

cáng líng yáng què shí tā shì néng gòu dài biǎo dì sān jí de dòng wù

藏羚羊确实它是能够代表第三极的动物

The Tibetan antelope indeed is a symbol of the third pole

dì yī yǎn kàn dào cáng líng yáng de shí hòu wǒ qí shí shì méi yǒu kàn dào yáng de

第一眼看到藏羚羊的时候，我其实是没有看到羊的

The first time I saw the Tibetan antelopes, actually I didn’t see one

wǒ jiù kàn dào yuǎn yuǎn de chén tǔ fēi yáng

我就看到远远的尘土飞扬

I just saw dust from afar

nà jiù shì cáng líng yáng pǎo le

那就是藏羚羊跑了

They escaped

wèi le bù bèi tā men fā xiàn

为了不被它们发现

In order to hide from them

wǒ měi tiān zǎo shàng tiān bù liàng diǎn bàn wǒ jiù yào jìn zhàng péng

我每天早上天不亮，5点半我就要进帐篷

I enter the tent at 5:30 am when it’s still dark outside

rán hòu yī zhěng tiān quán bù yào zài zhàng péng lǐ miàn

然后一整天全部要在帐篷里面

And spend the whole day inside

dào wǎn shàng tiān hēi le yǐ hòu wǒ cái néng cóng zhàng péng lǐ chū lái

到晚上天黑了以后，我才能从帐篷里出来

I don’t walk out until the night falls

kàn dào yáng le duō jìn nà

“看到羊了，多近呐”

“I see them, so close”

wǒ bù dǎ kē shuì de shí hòu wǒ dōu zài guān chá

我不打瞌睡的时候，我都在观察

When I’m not asleep, I’m observing

cáng líng yáng chǎn zǎi

藏羚羊产仔

Parturition

hái yǒu tā jiāo pèi dǎ dòu qiú ǒu děng děng

还有它交配、打斗、求偶等等

Mating, fighting and courtship

wǒ qí shí yě qù guò quán shì jiè de jǐ shí gè guó jiā le

我其实也去过全世界的几十个国家了

Actually I’ve been to dozens of countries around the world

bǐ rú jiǎng zài fēi zhōu nán běi jí

比如讲在非洲、南北极

For example, in Africa and the south and north poles

dòng wù dōu shì zài nǐ shēn biān

动物都是在你身边

Animals are around you

yǒu hěn duō jī huì kě yǐ pāi shè dào bù tóng de chǎng jǐng

有很多机会可以拍摄到不同的场景

You have the chance to shoot different scenes

dì sān jí de qīng cáng gāo yuán tā què shí yǔ zhòng bù tóng

第三极的青藏高原它确实与众不同

But in the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau, the third pole, it’s different

zài kě kě xī lǐ tā shì gāo hán gāo hǎi bá wú rén qū

在可可西里，它是高寒、高海拔无人区

The Hoh Xil is an isolated and extremely cold region in high-altitude zones

shén zhì bèi dà jiā chēng wèi shēng mìng de jìn qū

甚至被大家称为生命的禁区

It’s even called “the forbidden zone of life”

méi yǒu hěn duō shè yǐng shī qù pāi

没有很多摄影师去拍

A few photographer make it there

yóu qí shì nà xiē bǐ jiào zhēn xī de wù zhǒng tā men dōu fēi cháng pà rén

尤其是那些比较珍稀的物种，它们都非常怕人

Especially those rare species, they are all very scared of people

nǐ kě néng jiàn dào tā yī miàn dōu nán

你可能见到它一面都难

It could be difficult to even see them

wǒ yǒu de shí hòu kě néng yī tiān dōu méi yǒu yī gè hǎo de jìng tóu

我有的时候可能一天都没有一个好的镜头

Sometimes I probably don’t have a nice picture for a whole day

suǒ yǐ hěn duō shí hòu wǒ men dōu shì zài děng dài

所以很多时候我们都是在等待

So most of the time we’re waiting

wǒ bǐ jiào zhǎng de qù nà biān dà gài dài le jìn liǎng gè yuè

我比较长的去那边，大概待了近两个月

The longest stay there was almost for 2 months

zuì shǎo de dōu yào zài lǐ miàn dài shàng chà bù duō jìn tiān

最少的都要在里面待上差不多近20天

I spend at least 20 days there

wú rén lǐ lǐ miàn dōu méi yǒu shǒu jī xùn hào

无人里里面都没有（手机）讯号

There’s no (cellphone) signal in inhabited areas

wǒ zuì zhǎng de yī cì shì tiān méi yǒu xǐ guò zǎo lián xù

我最长的一次是25天没有洗过澡，连续

I didn’t bath for 25 consecutive days for the longest

hěn duō nián yǐ qián qīng cáng tiě lù gāng gāng jiàn chéng de shí hòu

很多年以前，青藏铁路刚刚建成的时候

Many years ago, when the Qinghai-Tibetan railway was just constructed

xiǎng pāi dào cáng líng yáng zài huǒ chē páng biān zhè yàng de huà miàn fēi cháng de nán

想拍到藏羚羊在火车旁边，这样的画面非常的难

It was very difficult to capture scenes of Tibetan antelopes beside a train

yīn wèi cáng líng yáng tā shì shì dài dài qiān xǐ de shí hòu

因为藏羚羊它世世代代迁徙的时候

Because they have been migrating down this route

tā dōu shì zǒu de zhè tiáo lù xiàn

它都是走的这条路线

For generations

dàn shì tū rán jiàn chéng le yī gè qīng cáng tiě lù

但是突然建成了一个青藏铁路

But suddenly a railway appeared

duì tā lái shuō shì fēi cháng mò shēng de

对它来说是非常陌生的

And it was strange for them

tā jiù bù huì kào jìn zhè gè qiáo

它就不会靠近这个桥

So they wouldn’t get close to the bridge

wǒ jīn nián zhōng yú pāi dào le zhè gè huà miàn

我今年终于拍到了这个画面

This year I finally captured the scene

huǒ chē zài qiáo shàng guò cáng líng yáng cóng qiáo dòng xià guò

火车在桥上过，藏羚羊从桥洞下过

Of train running above and the antelopes passing underneath the bridge

zhè shuō míng yě shēng dòng wù yě zài bù duàn dì shì yīng zhōu wéi huán jìng de biàn huà

这说明，野生动物也在不断地适应周围环境的变化

It indicates that wildlife adapts to its surrounding environment

dāng rán wǒ yě pāi shè le qí tā de hěn duō

当然我也拍摄了其他的很多

Of course I’ve shot many other animals

bǐ rú zōng xióng cáng yě lǘ yě máo niú cáng hú děng děng

比如棕熊、藏野驴、野牦牛、藏狐等等

Like brown bears, Tibetan wild donkeys, wild yaks, Tibetan foxes, etc.

shí wù liàn shàng láng zhuā cáng líng yáng

食物链上，狼抓藏羚羊

In the food chain, wolves chase Tibetan antelopes

rán hòu bǎ tā chī diào

然后把它吃掉

And feed on them

wǒ zài zhàng péng lǐ tóu yǐn bì pāi shè de shí hòu

我在帐篷里头隐蔽拍摄的时候

While I hide in the tent for shooting

wǒ zhǐ chī bā bǎo zhōu

我只吃八宝粥

I only have porridge

jiù shì wèi le fáng zhǐ zhè zhǒng dà xíng de ròu shí dòng wù

就是为了防止这种大型的肉食动物

To avoid that large carnivores

tā men huì wén dào zhè xiē wèi dào

它们会闻到这些味道

Track the smell

yī gè mǎn bǎn de ér bù shì cái jiǎn de yī gè zōng xióng tóu bù de tè xiě

Brown bear attacks happen in the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau each year

会有伤亡的

People get injured or even die

měi yī zhǒng shēng wù dōu fēi cháng zhòng yào

每一种生物都非常重要

Each creature is important

dōu yǒu tā men zì jǐ de wèi zhì

都有它们自己的位置

Each creature has their own place

bǎo hù yě shēng shēng wù jiù shì bǎo hù wǒ men zì jǐ

保护野生生物，就是保护我们自己

Protecting wildlife is protecting ourselves

shēng mìng shì fēi cháng kě guì de

生命是非常可贵的

Life is precious

shēng mìng yě shì fēi cháng cuì ruò de

生命也是非常脆弱的

But also fragile

zhè yě shì wǒ zài pāi shè yě shēng dòng wù shí tǐ huì fēi cháng shēn de

这也是我在拍摄野生动物时体会非常深的

This is a strong feeling of mine during the shooting of wildlife

wǒ jué dé wǒ kěn dìng shì hài pà sǐ wáng de

我觉得我肯定是害怕死亡的

I think surely I’m afraid of death

dàn shì yīn wèi zì jǐ xīn lǐ de rè ài

但是因为自己心里的热爱

But with the love in heart

nǐ yuàn yì mào zhù shēng mìng wēi xiǎn zuò yī xiē yǒu yì yì de shì qíng

你愿意冒著生命危险，做一些有意义的事情

You’re willing to risk your life to do something meaningful

měi gè rén dōu huì yǒu zǒu de yī tiān

每个人都会有走的一天

Everyone will leave the world eventually

guān jiàn shì nǐ yào zěn me yàng jīng cǎi dì huó zhù

关键是你要怎么样精彩地活著

The key is how to live an amazing life
