后来叫莫高窟

Later known as Mogao Caves

像梁思成、徐悲鸿都鼓励他

The likes of Liang Sicheng and Xu Beihong encouraged him to do that

zài jiān nán shí jiān tā jiù qù le

在艰难时间，他就去了

He went in a difficult time

去了以后永远离不开了

And never left

The first step he took was preservation

把流沙损坏的东西都给恢复起来

Restoring everything damaged by sands

栈道都竖立起来了

Walkways were built

而且每个窟都有门保护，有编号

Every cave was gated and numbered

He lived with his two children, a boy and a girl

工作又这么艰难，这么辛苦

His work being so demanding

一晃眼，我也成了耄耋之年

With a blink of an eye

yě chéng le suì de lǎo tài tài le

也成了90岁的老太太了

I have become a 90-year-old woman

wǒ fù qīn tā zhè yī shēng

我父亲他这一生

The life of my father

lái lái qù qù de fēi cháng kǎn kě

来来去去的非常坎坷

Was full of frustrations

zhōng yāng de dèng xiǎo píng tóng zhì

中央的邓小平同志

Comrade Deng Xiaoping of the Central Committee

ràng tā dào běi jīng lái xiǎng shòu wǎn nián

（让他）到北京来享受晚年

Invited him to spend his last years in Beijing

tā shuō zhè bù shì wǒ de jiā

他说：「这不是我的家」

He refused, “It’s not my home”

wǒ de jiā hái shì zài dūn huáng

「我的家还是在敦煌」

“My home is Dunhuang”

wǒ yào huí qù le

「我要回去了」

“I have to go back”

hòu lái tā bìng wēi de shí hòu tā gēn wǒ shuō

后来他病危的时候，他跟我说

Later when he was in critical condition, he told me

shā nà wǒ huà de lín mó de dōng xī

「沙娜，我画的、临摹的东西」

“Shana, everything I painted, copied”

yào huí dào dūn huáng

「要回到敦煌」

“Must be delivered to Dunhuang”

ér qiě yào juān gěi dūn huáng

「而且要捐给敦煌」

“Donate them to Dunhuang”

tā zuì hòu xiě de yī běn jiǔ shí chūn qiū dūn huáng wǔ shí nián

他最后写的一本《九十春秋：敦煌五十年》

His wrote in his last book

zuì hòu shuō le yī jù huà

最后说了一句话

“Fifty Years of Dunhuang”

dūn huáng a dūn huáng shì wǒ yǒng yuǎn de gù xiāng

「敦煌啊敦煌，是我永远的故乡」

“Dunhuang, Dunhuang, you are my eternal hometown”
