The city is on pause

一开始街上的人其实挺多的

There were plenty of people on the street

然后到了封城的那天，街上人就开始变少了

But the number of pedestrians plummeted at the day of lockdown

dāng tiān zǎo shàng tè bié zǎo de shí hòu

当天早上特别早的时候

Very early that morning

wǒ men jiù shōu dào xiāo xī shuō wǔ hàn fēng chéng le

我们就收到消息说武汉封城了

We got the message that Wuhan was to be isolated

rán hòu jiù qù le wǒ jiā fù jìn de yī gè shāng quān

然后就去了我家附近的一个商圈

Then I went to a business area near my home

jiào chǔ hé hàn jiē

叫楚河汉街

Chuhe Hanjie

fā xiàn shì méi yǒu rén de

发现是没有人的

There was no people there

yǒu hěn duō shāng jiā yào zuò yī gè guò nián de gǎn jí de huó dòng

有很多商家要做一个过年的赶集的活动

Many stores were planning on New Year events

他的物资都在那个地方

Their supplies piled up there

但是他肯定就没有办法做了

But the events were cancelled

There were cars 24 hour none stop on Shahu Bridge

xiàn zài qiáo shàng yī gè rén yě méi yǒu

现在桥上一个人也没有

And now it's empty

yī diǎn zào yīn yě méi yǒu

一点噪音也没有

And very quiet

rán hòu qù chāo shì fā xiàn shì tè bié duō rén de

然后去超市发现是特别多人的

And people crowded up in supermarkets

dà jiā dōu mò mò dì hěn máng lù dì zài nà biān mǎi cài

大家都默默地很忙碌地在那边买菜

Everybody was picking up ingredients in silence

kàn dào yī gè dà mā tā bǎ sù liào dài tào zài tóu shàng

看到一个大妈，她把塑料袋套在头上

I saw an auntie who covered her head with a plastic bag

lǐ miàn dài le kǒu zhào

里面戴了口罩

Wearing a mask

rán hòu bǎ sù liào dài wā le liǎng gè dòng dài le yī gè yǎn jìng

然后把塑料袋挖了两个洞，戴了一个眼镜

She poked two holes on the bag and wore a pair of sunglasses

wǒ shēn biān de péng yǒu tā men zhǔ dòng dì kāi chē qù jiē sòng

我身边的朋友，他们主动地开车去接送

My friends voluntarily drive doctors to work

dāng shí méi yǒu bàn fǎ qù shàng bān de yī shēng

当时没有办法去上班的医生

Where public transport fails

然后跟自己家人说，我只是出去买菜了

And they tell their family they are just out for grocery shopping

但实际上他们去接送医生去了

When in fact they were sending off and picking up doctors

hái yǒu yī xiē péng yǒu píng cháng jiù shì xī xī hā hā de

还有一些朋友，平常就是嘻嘻哈哈的

And other friends of mine who were of a playful character

挺不正经的

At most of the time

他们都是主动地要去做志愿者

Now they ask to be a volunteer

And deliver goods for hospitals

They seem to me like a different person

28岁的时候确诊了哮喘

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 28

当时从北京回到武汉

I returned to Wuhan from Beijing

就在去年年底，我也就没有工作了，没有兼职

By the end of last year I was out of work and I don't have a part time job

suǒ yǐ jiù suàn shī yè le

所以就算失业了

So basically I'm unemployed

反正他们（家人）每天都在说，你不要出去

My family was like, don't go out

但是我就出去了

But I did anyway

既然还有时间，我现在的条件也还能够支持我

Now that I have time and I'm able to do it
