我在2012年我女儿诞生之前

Before my daughter was born in 2012

wǒ dōu suàn shì dān shēn

我都算是单身

I saw myself as single

当你有家庭

When you have a family

nà shì shēng mìng de lìng wài yī gè jiē duàn

那是生命的另外一个阶段

That’s a whole new stage of life

到这个阶段的时候

And at this stage

我已经60岁了嘛

I’m 60 years old now

所以把家庭把个人的创作

I readjusted the relations in my life

各种关系重新调过一次

Including my family and my personal creation

Approaches me as a morning

到了这个年纪突然发现早上对我来讲很重要

At this age I suddenly realize how important morning is

wǒ zǎo shàng yào sòng nǚ ér shàng xué

我早上要送女儿上学

I drop off my daughter at school in the morning

wǒ men hěn jiān chí zǎo shàng yī qǐ qǐ lái

我们很坚持早上一起起来

We always get up early in the morning

yī qǐ zǎo fàn shū xǐ

一起早饭、梳洗

We have breakfast and freshen up

yī tóng kāi shǐ shēng huó de yī tiān

一同开始生活的一天

And together we start our day

dōu bù zhǔn xiǎo péng yǒu pèng de

iphone、ipad都不准小朋友碰的

iPhone、iPad are strictly forbidden

告诉她人跟人之间互相要帮忙

We tell her people should help out each other

互相叮咛对方

We tell each other to watch out

到了周末我们去找朋友

And we gather with friends on weekends

和朋友的子女们一起聊天

Talk to the children of our friends

一起玩或者旅行

Or hang together, or go for a trip

最基本的最重要的人跟人之间的一种连接

Try to maintain the basic interpersonal contact

我们家很严格

My parents were strict

大家知道我原来学的是医

I studied in medicine school

家里也不是那么赞成我走音乐这一条

And they weren’t very supportive of me pursuing a career in music

声音更扎实

It has a thick, deep sound

And it is able to reach lower notes

And now it’s almost four decades

比如说《东方之珠》中间的那段吉他solo

The guitar solo in “Pearl of the East”

都是这把吉他另外那一把（同款）

Was played by a same guitar as this one

This is the trace of time

Two decades is too young for me

嗓子会因为年纪的增加

As I age

你的音域会越来越宽

My vocal range expands

And that enables me to express richer feelings

My ceiling is three notes higher than when I was younger

Of not being able to find a job
