卖关子 (賣關子)
to keep listeners in suspense (in storytelling) / to keep people on tenterhooks
说书人说长篇故事,每次总在说到重要关节处停止,借以吸引听众接着往下听,叫"卖关"子。比喻说话﹑做事在紧要的时候,故弄玄虚,使对方着急。
