seal script (Chinese calligraphic style)
①字体名。大篆和小篆的统称。大篆相传为周宣王时太史籀所作,故也称籀文”或籀书”,广义的大篆又指甲骨文、金文及春秋战国时各国通行的文字。秦始皇统一中国后,实行文字统一,以小篆为正字,也称秦篆”。篆书字体偏长,多用圆笔。②王莽篡汉建立新朝后所立六书之一,即小篆”。
