❶指资本主义社会再生产过程中发生的生产过剩的危机，具体表现是：大量商品找不到销路，许多企业倒闭，生产下降，失业增多，整个社会经济陷于瘫痪和混乱状态。经济危机是资本主义生产方式基本矛盾发展的必然结果，具有周期性。❷由于自然灾害、战争或工作严重失误而造成的生产猛烈下降、经济极度混乱和动荡的现象。
