官职尊贵之臣。 清代用为官号。如内官有总管大臣﹑军机大臣等﹐外官有参赞大臣﹑领队大臣等﹐特遣的称钦差大臣。至清末尽改各部尚书为大臣﹐侍郎为副大臣。现亦用作君主国家高级官吏之称。
